Educating has been a passion since I attended medical school. I have enjoyed years of serving in a primary care clinic setting but have rarely felt like I had the time I wanted to be able to educate my clients. So here we are - education central.
There are things that everyone needs to know and then there are specifics for each client. Generally, we need to know basic nutritional information. Specifically, everyone should understand their medical diagnoses and how nutrition applies to them individually.
For example, everyone who lives north of Oklahoma needs to supplement with Vitamin D3 daily (more in the winter and less in the summer). But people during acute illness, pandemics, or those with chronic pain might need more D3 than others.
Also, sleep issues seem to be very common, so we can talk about treatments in general, who hasn't tried melatonin? But how is each client different? Melatonin works for issues with falling asleep, but what about nighttime wakening? You might need phosphatidylserine.
Let's connect and start with education through which you'll be inspired to better health.

I had suffered with insomnia for over 25 years when I met JoAnn, who introduced me to Functional Medicine.
From our first appointment together, I found her to be intelligent, caring and thorough. She asked me questions about diet, exercise, relationships, and what types of stress I had been exposed to over the course of my life. She did a thorough and complete physical examination. Before the first visit was completed, she had helped me understand how stress and diet affect sleep and metabolism. She evaluated blood work including hormones and cortisol. She recommended a very simple and practical solution to my insomnia problem, which resulted in my sleep pattern improving within a week.
She explains WHY and HOW the changes she suggests will help me. We are now addressing an issue I have with immune dysfunction via mitochondrial health. This is help at a cellular level. It's not magic: it's science - real science, and I love the education she is giving me!

Medical Coding Professional.
The only medical provider who ever listened to me. And even though she didn't know all the answers she was willing to keep looking, referred me to specialists and
followed through on her care.
Jill, retired nurse
The first provider who really wanted to help me and took the time to chase down the actual diagnosis,
not just giving me a pill.
